Downtown Cartersville awarded the Vibrant Communities Grant

Historic downtown Cartersville has recently been awarded the Georgia Council for the Arts Vibrant Communities Grant, which will allow them to cultivate art that is representational of Bartow County and the people who live here. The Vibrant Communities Grant is a reimbursement grant that will match funds up to $5,000. The Cartersville Downtown Development Authority submitted their application requesting $5,000 and committed to pay $5,000 from their budget. While this price may seem steep, the Georiga Council for the Arts will reimburse the DDA the full $5,000 committed at the end of the project.

An Art Task Force was put together in order to quickly, and efficiently curate the highest quality art for downtown. They have a vision but are now in need of the community’s input. There will be two public engagement meetings on Monday, November 13th, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to discuss the grant and determine the type of art Bartow County envisions for their downtown. These meetings will be held in the City Council Chambers, where the grant’s details will be explained more thoroughly as well as to distribute an online art survey.

If you are unable to make the meeting, you can take the art survey that is linked below.
